Donald Trump ‘disrespected’ protocol at Pope Francis’ funeral

Donald Trump faced criticism for his behavior and attire at Pope Francis’s funeral on Saturday. The funeral, attended by over 200,000 people, including 50 world leaders, took place at St. Peter’s Square and the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica.

Trump, accompanied by his wife Melania, wore a navy blue suit instead of the traditional black expected at a Catholic funeral, drawing backlash.

Some criticized him for stepping on the carpet around the Pope’s coffin, a symbol of holy ground, while others pointed out his use of a phone, chewing gum, and even nodding off during the ceremony.

His critics saw his actions as disrespectful, with some suggesting his behavior was aimed at appealing to his Catholic supporters.
