Donald Trump claims he invented a ‘new word’

Donald Trump Claims He Invented the Word “Equalizing”

Donald Trump, known for bold statements, recently made headlines with a surprising claim during a White House press conference. While unveiling a plan to cut U.S. prescription drug prices by up to 80%, he referred to the move as “equalizing” prices with Europe.

Trump, 78, called the initiative historic and said, “It’s a new word that I came up with… probably the best word.” However, the term “equalizing” has existed for centuries. Language experts quickly pointed out that it dates back to the late 1400s, originating from the Latin “aequalizare,” meaning “to make equal.”

Social media users mocked the claim, with some referencing the 1980s TV show The Equalizer.

This isn’t Trump’s first eccentric remark. He recently joked about becoming the next Pope and posted an AI-generated image of himself in papal robes — which later appeared on his official accounts, though he denied making it.

Whether Trump will get dictionary credit for “equalizing” is unlikely — but in politics, stranger things have happened.
