Donald Trump Cut Speech Short Amid Medical Emergency

During a White House press conference on April 18, 2025, President Donald Trump shortened his speech after a medical incident. While swearing in Dr. Mehmet Oz as the new administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a young girl fainted, prompting Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to end the conference and order reporters to leave. Trump, noticing the seriousness of the situation, cut his speech short, expressing concern, “I hope she’s OK,” as Dr. Oz ran off-camera to assist.

The White House later confirmed that the fainted individual was a “minor family member” and that she was fine.

Trump introduced Dr. Oz, highlighting his credentials, including his medical education and career at institutions like Harvard and Columbia, and his role in launching The Dr. Oz Show. Despite some controversies, including criticism over his medical advice, Dr. Oz was confirmed by the Senate for the CMS position earlier that month.
