NYU President of College Republicans Steps Down After Barron Trump Remark
The headline “NYU College Republicans resign” began trending after chapter president Kaya Walker stepped down following controversial remarks about Barron Trump, now a freshman at NYU.
In an interview, Walker called Barron an “oddity” on campus and referenced a professor’s comment that he “doesn’t really belong here.” Her remarks drew backlash from the national College Republicans of America (CRA), who labeled them inappropriate.

Despite suggesting the quotes may have been taken out of context, CRA accepted her resignation and reaffirmed their support for the Trump family, even inviting Barron to join them, calling him “the future of the conservative movement.” NYU’s chapter is now searching for a new leader, while Barron continues his studies amid increased attention.
